Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.

2014 – Day 172

I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of bondage.
You shall have no other gods before or besides Me.
Exodus 20:2-3

What is your greatest priority?

When asked the greatest of all the laws of Scripture Jesus answered “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:35 The first of the ten Commandments says “You shall have no other gods before me.”

Establishing, developing and maintaining personal relationship with God is the most important commitment we will ever make in life. There are many things that can demand control of our lives and seem more interesting than following God. When we give into them, they eliminate all possibility of establishing and maintaining honest relationship with God.

God loves and cares for us: Principle 2 says “I earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.”

If I am serious about recovery and changing my life to living life according to God’s Word I need to make my most important priority: Establishing, developing and maintaining personal relationship with God.

PRAYER: Lord, today help me not be be teamed p with those who do not love You! Help me to seek after Your will for my life and to follow through on my part of my recovery walk so You can follow through on Your promises in my life. Show me how to keep my focus today and everyday on establishing, developing and maintaining a stronger relationship with You. AMEN

Everyone Needs Recovery

In Isaiah 57:18–19 God says of his people that he has seen how they acted but he will forgive and restore them.

For us that means:

• If you’ve been hurt: God wants to heal you.
• If you’re confused: God wants to lead you.
• If you’ve ever felt you were helpless to change anything: God wants to help you.
• If you’ve ever felt no one understands your problem: God wants to comfort you.
• If you feel worried or afraid: God wants to offer peace to you.

Welcome to Celebrate Recovery!

God expects us to do our part in the recovery process

Don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books. So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our
Master and Savior, Jesus Christ
.
