Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.

2014 – Day 152

2 Corinthians 3:5b Our competence comes from God.

Insisting we could control our hurts, habits and hang-ups only caused is problems. Without power outside of ourselves we are destined for failure. The earlier we admit powerlessness and unmanageability and a need to change the sooner we can begin the recovery process.

God is able and willing to help us change if we are willing to put our faith and trust in Him.

Prayer

Lord help me today to admit and accept that by myself I am powerless to manage my recovery. Let me put my faith and trust in You so I can start to walk the Road to Recovery with You.

2014- Day 150

Psalm 107:10-11 Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High.

When we reject God and His plan we live in spiritual darkness.

When we come to recovery and stop Denying our true position. we realise we need His help to overcome our hurts, hang-ups and habits.

Prayer

Lord God help me today to realise I need Your help in every area of my life. That it is in relationship with You I can overcome the denial of my current circumstances and move forward.

2014 – Day 147

Anxiety causes us to waste energy running from the past and worrying about the future.

Instead of getting anxious about the past and things we can do nothing about we need to focus on what we can do to live today as God wants us to live.

Matthew 6:32 tells us that God knows what we need and if we put or faith in Him, and trust Him He will supply it: “These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs”

Philippians 4:6 tells us to pray about everything: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.”

Imagine never getting anxious about anything – seems like an impossibility, doesn’t it? But is we learn to STOP! PRAY! and put or faith in God we can have victory over or hurts, hang-ups and habits and focus on the things God is calling s to focus on.

PRAYER:

Lord, today help me to Stop! Pray! and trust You so I know I don’t have to be anxious abot what has happened, is happening and will happn

2014 – Day 146

Understanding and feeling our feelings is freedom

Job 7:11 says “I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.”

Out of a deep feeling of anguish and bitterness Job spoke honestly to God and shared his frustration with Him. We to need to learn to express our feelings openly and honestly with God. When we do we it can help to avoid hurting ourselves and others.  We can gain a Godly perspective on our circumstances and emotions and gain His strength and power to find constructive rather than destructive solutions.

Prayer:

Lord help me today to speak openly and honestly with You about my feelings. Help me to seek constructive solutions. Help me to seek Your will in every situation that presents today and to draw on Your strength, not my own when I feel I am struggling. Amen

Everyone Needs Recovery

In Isaiah 57:18–19 God says of his people that he has seen how they acted but he will forgive and restore them.

For us that means:

• If you’ve been hurt: God wants to heal you.
• If you’re confused: God wants to lead you.
• If you’ve ever felt you were helpless to change anything: God wants to help you.
• If you’ve ever felt no one understands your problem: God wants to comfort you.
• If you feel worried or afraid: God wants to offer peace to you.

Welcome to Celebrate Recovery!

Faith that overcomes DENIAL

Later he (Jesus) appeared, but in a different form, to two of them (His disciples) out walking in the countryside. They went back and told the rest, but they weren’t believed. Mark 16:11:12-13

Many of Jesus disciples had a hard time believing He had risen from the dead. Even though He told them He would and they had seem Him perform numerous miracles.

As we grow spiritually in recovery we discover faith that can overcome DENIAL.

When we do and start to put it into practice we become an encouragement to others on the road to recovery.

I admit that my life has become unmanageable

Realize I am not God. I admit that I am powerless over my tendency to do the wrong thing, and that my life is unmanageable.

Most of us end up in recovery because the hurts, habits and hang-ups have made areas of our lives unmanageable We are unable to manage on or own and need new disciplines in or lives to help us manage.

As we begin 2014 we need to adapt to God’s discipline as a new way of daily living.

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?” Hebrews 12:7

God is our Heavenly Father, who loves us and wants us to live according to His word for our own protection. And, when we get it wrong He will discipline us,  because He loves us.

When He does we need to understand His discipline is proof of His love for and take time to talk to Him about what He wants us to learn from our mistakes.
