2014 – Day 137

Read Lesson One of Spiritual Inventory (page 1145 CR Bible)

Forgive us our debts,as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:12-13

Forgiveness is an essential part of the recovery process. Often when we come to Principle Four we are still struggling with resentment, anger and bitterness towards those who have hurt us or we have hurt (for whatever reason).

When doing our SPIRITUAL INVENTORY;  we need to look at our relationships with others and ask God to forgive us for our part in hurting others and to make us willing to forgive others for the harm they have inflicted on us.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:9-12, this is how we should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtor

If we fail to forgive others we forfeit our right to forgiveness from God:

If we are still struggling with resentment, anger and bitterness towards others it may be we are not yet ready to move forward in Principle Four.

Prayer:
Lord, forgive me today for hurting others. Help me to ‘Let Go’ of resentment anger and bitterness towards others. Soften my heart and strengthen me, make me willing to forgive those who have hurt me and to pray for them regularly. Amen
